For the ease of treatment, Ayurveda was classified into eight branches. These are as follows:
Kaya Chikitsa(Medicine): In Ayurveda, kaya means body thus ,it includes treatment of all the general complications which occur in an individual.
Balroga(Pediatrics): As the name itself indicates it includes treatment of diseases related to children under the age of 16 years.
Grah Chikitsa(Science of demonic seizures psychology): When an individual is suffering from the bad effects of the demon, evil, spirit, cacodemon, incubus etc. Then it’s treatment comes under this part.
Shalakya Tantra(ENT): This branch deals with the disorders of supra-clavicular region including ear, nose, throat, eye, dental, head and neck.
Shalya Tantra(Surgery): Among the eight components of Ayurveda, it is the most significant branch. Basic idea behind Shalya Tantra is to remove an irritating factor(which produces pain in the body of the patient) from the body.
Agad Tatra(Science of toxicology or venomology): This branch of Ayurveda deals with the toxic effects of venoms secreted by various snakes, toads, insects, salamanders etc.
Rasayan Chikitsa(Science of rejuvenation): This branch of Ayurveda deals with the aging process and the main aim of this branch is to slow down the aging process, with the help of ancient concepts of Ayurveda, we can increase the age, concentration power, strength, intelligency of an individual upto some extent.
Vajikarana Tantra(Science of aphradiasics): This branch deals with the management of defective semen and spermatogenesis along with sexual potencification.
